Ingredients for Chicken Afghani:

  1. 1 kg chicken.
  2. 20 cashews.
  3. 1 cup milk.
  4. 3 big onions thinly sliced.
  5. 1 tomato puréed.
  6. 1 tbsp Aamchur powder.
  7. 1 tbsp garam masala powder.
  8. 1 tbsp red chilli powder.
  9. 1 tsp coriander powder.
  10. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  11. 1 tbsp dried Kasuri methi.
  12. 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.
  13. 3 tbsp refined oil.
  14. 3 tbsp ghee.
  15. To Marinate:.
  16. 1/2 lemon juice.
  17. 2 tbsp curd.
  18. 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste.
  19. 1 tbsp red chilli powder.
  20. 1 tbsp salt.

Step by step how to cook Chicken Afghani:

  1. Marinate the chicken with the ingredients listed in marinade section and refrigerate for an hour..
  2. Add 3 tbsp of oil In a pan and shallow fry the chicken. Cook for 20 minutes by covering the pan with a lid. Keep the cooked chucked aside..
  3. In the same pan, fry the onions and cashew till they are golden brown. Cool for some time and grind them in a mixer to make a smooth paste..
  4. Add ghee to a pan and fry the ginger garlic paste for 5 minutes. Add tomato purée, amchur powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, salt and milk and cook for 10 minutes..
  5. Add the onion cashew paste and kasuri methi and cook for another 5 minutes..
  6. Add the chicken pieces and coriander leaves and stir well..
  7. Enjoy it hot with rice/roti!.
